The ICT managements’ need of knowhow is more and more emphasized on managing and expertise on sourcing and project management. The demand for technical ICT skills diminishes as solutions and services are moved to the providers’ data centers or bought from a cloud.

Communication skills and the ability to develop and plan business operation models become essential. Training programs for ICT management and leadership are rare and people with managerial potential do not often seek to the ICT-field.

The common challenge to all ICT Management is the lack of experts and management. Furthermore the ICT Management operation models are still quite undeveloped, which makes the decision-making and co-operation between business and ICT more difficult. The ICT management often struggles with executing strategic intent and development projects because the expectations set for the company ICT are not aligned with the available resources and operation models.
