Tuuli Kousa to turn Sofigate into the leading business technology company in the Nordics

Business technology company Sofigate has grown rapidly into a company with a turnover of 100 million euros and 650 employees in Finland, Sweden, and Denmark; its goal is to reach a turnover of 500 million euros in 2025. Sofigate is accelerating its international growth by appointing Tuuli Kousa as the head of its marketing and communications. She has a wide range of experience in communications, brand building, and public affairs.

Sofigate’s growth and building its international visibility require a strong strategic approach to marketing and communications. Tuuli Kousa, CMO, Head of Marketing and Communications, brings this to Sofigate; she has had leadership positions in the OP Financial Group for seven years. In 2018–2021, she was OP Financial Group’s Chief Communications and Corporate Responsibility Officer in charge of the group’s communications, brands, public relations, and corporate responsibility.

“After seven years in OP Financial Group, I wanted new challenges and to be immersed in a more international operating environment. I was inspired by the energy and ambition in Sofigate and the company wanting to leave its mark in society as a reformer of how business technology is led. It is interesting to have the opportunity to learn a new business and to apply my know-how to building Sofigate’s next growth phase,” says Tuuli Kousa.

Previously, Tuuli Kousa has worked in expert and management positions at SanomaWSOY, Neste Oil, Gummerus, and Miltton. She has also been a special adviser to a minister and had several positions of trust in Helsinki City Group and in the field of culture and higher education. At the moment, she is e.g. the Chair of Dance House Helsinki, and in 2017–2019 she was the Chair of the Helsinki City Council.

“Sofigate’s ambition is to become the thought leader in business technology in the Nordics. Reaching this goal requires a stronger brand with Sofigate’s community spirit as well as a bolder and more strategic approach to communications. In Tuuli, we found the best leader for this work, and it is a pleasure to have her as my partner in building Sofigate into a world-class forerunner brand and making our work even more impactful,” says Sofigate CEO Sami Karkkila.

Jari Raappana, who has previously been responsible for Sofigate’s marketing, will now focus on supporting group-level strategic initiatives and implementing the execution of the company’s inorganic growth strategy.
