Sofigate and City of Vantaa sign agreement on IT integrator services – City of Vantaa employees transferring to Sofigate

In May, the City of Vantaa chose business technology company Sofigate to be its partner to develop IT integrator services and service provider in a number of IT services. Sofigate will begin to provide services as specified in the agreement jointly with its partner Gofore as of the beginning of December.  As part of the agreement, 12 City of Vantaa employees will transfer to the employment of Sofigate.

In the spring of 2019, the City of Vantaa arranged a competitive tender for its IT management resources and tactical and operational IT management. Sofigate, which submitted the winning tender, has been working with the City of Vantaa’s IT management and various departments already since 2014 in dozens of projects of various sizes.

“We see this partnership as an excellent opportunity to affect the development of Finnish society and to digitalise municipal services. We welcome warmly the top professionals from the City of Vantaa to Sofigate,” says Sofigate’s CEO Sami Karkkila.

As an IT integrator, Sofigate works in close cooperation with the City of Vantaa’s strategic information management and departments. Sofigate’s duty is to be in charge of the IT operations of the entire tactical and operational level, ranging from demand and development to services and the management of service providers.

Through this partnership, Vantaa is seeking well-functioning solutions, practical operating models and innovations with which the City can streamline its operations, improve the customer experience of existing services and create entirely new digital services that benefit the people of Vantaa. The agreement also covers the IT management services for the Health and Social Welfare Department.

The five-year contract is worth EUR 28 million, excluding IT management services for the social and health care sector.
